25/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Research Council (ERC) announced on Thursday 25 July that it will allocate €9.3 million under its Proof of Concept (POC) scheme to 62 projects of €150,000 each (over a period not exceeding 18 months) to explore the commercial or societal potential of their ERC-funded discoveries. This is a key objective of European policy, as Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, stated on this occasion: "Europe excels in turning money into great science, but still has to improve its ability to turn excellent science into money and benefits to society". These subsidies have been paid, three times a year, for the past 8 years under the Horizon 2020 framework programme. (PH)
