18/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched a call for proposals on Thursday 18 July to support media freedom and investigative journalism in Europe. In total, it proposes to release 4.2 million euros to co-finance three types of action. The first will set up a reaction mechanism to mitigate the deterioration of press freedom in the Member States (€1.4 million). The second will create a fund to support cross-border investigative journalism in the EU (€1.5 million). The third part of the call will allow interested parties to propose projects that support independent journalism and journalistic cooperation in the Member States (€1.3 million). The co-financing rate for this initiative, which is spread over one year, is 90%. The call for proposals is open until 27 September 2019. (SPj)
