18/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 18 July, the Greek and Slovenian governments announced their candidates for the posts of Commissioners in the future ‘von der Leyen’ Commission that begins on 1 November. For Greece, it is 57-year-old Margaritis Schinas, current Chief Spokesperson for the European Commission, who was a Member of the European Parliament from 2007 to 2009. Asked by EUROPE about Mr Schinas' continuation as spokesman, his colleague Mina Andreeva said she would answer this question on 19 July at the daily press briefing with Brussels journalists. On the Slovenian side, the current Ambassador to the EU, Janez Lenarčič, 51, is expected to become Commissioner. (CG)
