09/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – According to an analysis published on Tuesday 9 July by Eurostat, the European Statistical Office, the employment rate of non-European citizens in the EU is below the average for European nationals and citizens, according to data collected in 2018. In 89% of the regions (where data are available), the employment rate was below the 75% level targeted in the EUROPE 2020 strategy. The lowest employment rates are concentrated in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Mayotte, the French overseas region, had the lowest rate of all EU regions in 2018 (22%). For European citizens, some 58% of the regions exceeded the set employment rate of 75%, with a particularly high employment rate in the British county of Cumbria (97%).
