01/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 7.5% of the labour force in May 2019, the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since July 2008, compared with 7.6% in April this year, according to data published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat). This compares to the same period last year (8.3%), when unemployment fell by 0.8%. In the Twenty-Eight, unemployment also recorded its lowest rate since January 2000, reaching 6.3% in May 2019 compared to 6.4% in April 2019, representing a drop in the number of unemployed of 71,000 people. Compared to May 2018, unemployment fell by 1,277 million people in the Twenty-Eight and by 1,133 million in the euro area. (MM - Intern)
