24/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – At its plenary session on Thursday 20 June, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) adopted the exploratory opinion defended by Dimitris Dimitriadis on competitiveness in transnational clusters in macro-regions. The EESC recommends, inter alia, improving communication and connectivity between the various stakeholders, in particular by harmonising databases. Not surprisingly, the EESC proposes to strengthen the participation of civil society in the implementation of the various strategies. It has suggested creating networks for educational and innovation activities. In addition, the European consultative body proposes to link macro-regional strategies together and ensure that the new strategies are consistent with UN sustainable development objectives. The opinion responds to a request from the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU. To consult the full opinion: https://bit.ly/2LdPncm (PH)
