17/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 17 June, the Council of the EU endorsed the joint communication of the High Representative of the EU and the Commission entitled ‘The EU and Central Asia: New opportunities for a stronger partnership’, published on 15 May last (see EUROPE 12255/20). “In a world characterised by increasing interdependencies and interconnections, the EU and Central Asia are bound by strong mutual interests and are now closer than ever”, say Ministers in the conclusions they adopted at their EU Council meeting in Luxembourg. The EU Council also underlines its determination to conclude and implement “ambitious, wide-ranging and mutually beneficial” enhanced partnership and cooperation agreements with the countries of the region concerned, considering that these agreements would remain “a cornerstone of the EU's relations with Central Asia”.
