Poland, Hungary, Cyprus and Malta required to align their national practices with EU rules

On Thursday 6 June, the European Commission asked Poland, Hungary, Cyprus and Malta to align their national tax practices on alcohol, cigarettes and cars with EU rules.

Poland has been sent a reasoned opinion on the grounds that its national legislation does not provide for the reimbursement of excise duties paid on imports of ethyl alcohol used to produce medicines, after these duties have been paid.
