21/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – Despite the crises the EU has faced since 2015, Europeans’ level of well-being has continued to improve, according to a study by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), published on Tuesday 21 May. Although the differences between Member States are still significant, with a much higher welfare index in the Scandinavian countries (led by Denmark) compared to many Eastern and Southern European Member States (with Greece at the bottom of the ranking), the European agency notes a drastic drop in unemployment, which has reached its lowest level since 2000. It notes that wage and income inequalities are shrinking, indicating a new round in the convergence process, which is reflected in renewed confidence in European institutions.
