21/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 21 May, Theresa May announced that the House of Commons will have the opportunity to authorise a second referendum on exiting the EU if it approves, in early June, the new law on the withdrawal agreement, a concession to an opposing party. At a press conference on the eve of a session with MPs, the leader—who already announced her departure after the vote—explained that this was the last opportunity to “implement Brexit”. If they “vote against” the law, they “vote against Brexit”, which they would stop. The new law on the withdrawal agreement will contain amendments resulting from talks with the opposition, such as a new law on workers’ rights or environmental protection at the same level as in the EU. This law will also offer MPs a new compromise on temporarily remaining in the Customs Union. (SP)
