10/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 10 May, the European Commission approved compensation granted by Slovakia to an electricity company for temporarily supplying a mandatory quantity of electricity from indigenous fuel sources into the Bystričany electricity system node. The Bystričany electricity node is not sufficiently connected to the Slovak electricity grid. Slovakia’s approved action takes the form of a temporary public service obligation (until 2023 at the latest) and compensation covering the difference between the company’s revenues from the sale of electricity and other services and its production costs. The Commission found this measure to be compatible with the EU State aid rules on services of general economic interest. (LT)
