07/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said he was "sad" about the progress of the institutional agreement negotiated between Switzerland and the EU, an agreement that the Swiss Confederation has still not been able to initial since December 2018. "Yes, it makes me sad", he said at a press conference ahead of the Sibiu Summit. "I have shown availability, patience and even ideas to move this issue forward. We have had some results, but yes, sometimes I am disappointed, but I am not losing hope", he added. For Mr Juncker, Switzerland and the EU "are not enemies or competitors, we share the same values and what is happening in Switzerland interests me first and foremost". As such, he said he still hoped "that we can quickly achieve results". (SP)
