Visiting Kiev, he met with the newly elected President, Volodymir Zelensky (see EUROPE 12240/11), but also with Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy, Johannes Hahn, called on the Ukrainian authorities to pursue reforms.
"Ukraine faces many challenges and threats and all Ukrainian authorities - President, Government and verkhovna rada - have now to act in the most responsible manner", he explained on his Twitter account.
"This means that in the current transition period and ahead of parliamentary elections, urgent reforms are not stalled, but accelerated to ensure financial and economic stability, including the guarantee of international financial support and energy supply", he added, also stressing the importance of continuing the fight against corruption. "There is no time to lose", he warned.
"Good cooperation between all Ukrainian authorities until the parliamentary elections is essential", Hahn stressed.
