13/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission adopted on Wednesday, 13 March, a delegated act to accelerate the deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS) on EU roads. The use of C-ITS should contribute to making road transport cleaner and safer by allowing vehicles and infrastructure to communicate, for example, with regard to network disruptions. "As an important stepping stone towards connected and automated mobility, it [this delegated act] will significantly contribute to us achieving our ambitions on road safety", said Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport Policy. In accordance with the procedure provided for by EU law rules, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU may oppose the entry into force of this legal act for a period of 2 months. (LT)
