26/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Czech Republic is officially free of African swine fever and will therefore no longer be subject to EU restrictions that were put in place to combat the outbreak, the European Commission announced on Tuesday, 26 February. Commission Implementing Decision 2014/709/EU sets out animal health measures for the control of African swine fever in the Member States concerned. Nevertheless, less than two years after being affected by African swine fever, the Czech Republic has received support from EU Member States to lift all restrictions in place in the country. Since no new cases of African swine fever have been identified in the Czech Republic since April 2018, the Commission has therefore proposed that Member States lift all restrictions. (LC)
