26/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – All EU Member States have sent the Commission their draft integrated National Energy and Climate Plans as required by European regulations on the governance of the Energy Union for the period 2021-2030, European Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete announced on Monday 25 February. These projects were due by the end of 2018. The Commission will make any recommendations by the end of June, after having duly assessed them. The deadline for submission of final plans is December 31. These plans are crucial to enable the EU to achieve its energy and climate objectives (at least 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990, a minimum share of 32% renewables in the energy mix, 32.5% energy savings) and the objective of cross-border interconnection of 15% of electricity capacity in each country.
