19/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The provisional agreement on copyright reform will be submitted to the Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) on Wednesday 20 February and to the European Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs on 26 February. This agreement, reached between the European Parliament, the EU Council and the European Commission less than a week ago, gave rise to a robust exchange of views between pro-reform MEPs and those who are against it. Some, such as Virginie Rozière (S&D, France), denounced the "perverse and insidious" lobbying by the Big Four. Others, such as Julia Reda (Greens/EFA, Germany), warned against filtering measures that undermined freedom of expression. Critics also criticised the rushed adoption procedure and the Commission's recent note reducing the dossier to a fight between a dragon (the Big Four) and a knight (the EU). (SPj)
