12/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament and the EU Council cancelled at the last minute, Tuesday 12 February, what was to be the last interinstitutional meeting on the regulation establishing the European Labour Authority, according to several sources. In the morning, at the Permanent Representatives Committee II (Coreper II), the national delegations were not able to reach an agreement on the procedure for designating the seat of the future entity - which will probably be called Authority (see EUROPE 12187). The subject should be discussed again tomorrow in the same Coreper. This is the last major political point to be negotiated. Broadly speaking, the Parliament would like to have its say during the process of designating the seat, whereas the Council considers that this matter falls within its sole competence. The date of the next meeting was not yet known at the time of this writing. (PH)
