06/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Commission is on track to reach the target set by President Jean-Claude Juncker to have at least 40% of middle and senior management positions occupied by women. According to data released on Wednesday, February 6, women occupied 39.6% of management positions at all levels as of 1 February, 2019, compared to 30% at the beginning of the President's term in November 2014. The most significant progress increase has been achieved in Deputy Director-General posts, where the proportion of women has risen from 8% in November 2014 to 43% currently. The target for women in Heads of Units posts has been achieved (40.6%). The Commissioner for Human Resources, Günther Oettinger, notes that in many management positions, “we have already gone above and beyond the target we set, and we will soon achieve this across the board”.
