22/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – Member States' ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) will ultimately not comment on the package of measures to modernise European company law, including a proposal for a Directive on harmonised procedures for cross-border divisions and transfers and a targeted review for mergers (see EUROPE 12176), on Friday 25 January. The text is reportedly not yet “ready” for adoption, said a European source on Tuesday 22 January. The Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU will hold a meeting of national attachés on Thursday 24 January, before seeking a negotiating mandate at Coreper on 30 January. The start of negotiations with the European Parliament has therefore been postponed to 5 February. (MF)
