10/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched a public consultation on Thursday 10 January to evaluate the low voltage directive 2014/35/EU. The Commission will examine whether the increasing number of safeguard clauses and objections to harmonised standards raised by Member States justify a revision of the scope of the Directive, but also of its health and safety requirements in relation to compliance assessment procedures. It will also verify its coherence with other directives (the Radio Equipment Directive [RED] 2014/53/EU, the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive [EMC] 2014/30/EU, the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC). The public consultation will be open from 10 January to 4 April. (PH)
