11/12/2018 (Agence Europe) – In an oral question to the European Commission, MEPs of the European Parliament's Committee on International Trade (INTA) call it to account on its trade defence policy. The issue, which concerns Colombian anti-dumping measures on European frozen french fries, received broad support in a vote on Monday, 10 December. MEPs ask the Commission about the measures it plans to take to ensure full compliance with the WTO Anti-Dumping Agreement in this case and ask it, more broadly, why it has “so far prevented it from challenging the actions of third countries at the WTO". At the beginning of November, Colombia announced, following an investigation criticised in Europe for its shortcomings, that it would impose anti-dumping duties on frozen french fries from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands (see EUROPE 12134). This product ranks among the top 15 European food exports. (HD)
