06/12/2018 (Agence Europe) – Interinstitutional negotiations ('trilogues') between the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament on the revision of Directive 92/106/EEC, which is part of the second ‘mobility’ package (see EUROPE 11900) and concerns the combined transport of goods between Member States, will start in January. These trilogue meetings can essentially be launched after Member States' Transport Ministers have reached political agreement in principle ('general approach') on this dossier on Monday 3 December, at the end of the negotiations on the first ‘mobility’ package (see EUROPE 12152). The MEPs had adopted their negotiating position last July (see EUROPE 12059, 12058). No final date has been set for this first 'trilogue' meeting. The negotiators will try to reach an agreement in February. (LT)
