20/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – On the evening of Monday 19 November, the Council adopted their position on the European Defence Fund, proposed by the European Commission in the context of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the period from 2021 to 2027. In their partial general approach, it largely agrees with the Commission's proposal. However, it specifies a number of aspects, in particular on the eligibility of entities and ownership of results, procedures and award criteria. The approach is described as "partial", as the financial aspects, among others, will depend on the overall agreement on the next multiannual financial framework. For its part, the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy is expected to vote on the report by Zdzisław Krasnodębski (ECR, Poland) on the establishment of the EDF on Wednesday.
