19/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 19 November, the European Commission published the vacancy notice for the post of Chief Prosecutor at the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. The selection criteria include, inter alia, at least 15 years' professional experience as an active member of the public prosecutor's office or the judiciary and at least five years' experience as a prosecutor responsible for investigating financial crimes. The vacancy notice also specifies that the candidate must be able to exercise a full 7-year term of office and notes the extension of the retirement age to 70 years (see EUROPE 12097). Applications will first be evaluated by the twelve members of the selection committee responsible for drawing up a short list of qualified candidates (see EUROPE 12093). The Chief Prosecutor at the European Public Prosecutor's Office will then be appointed by common accord between the European Parliament and the Council.
