13/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The EU and Canada will cooperate on the exchange of product safety information under an administrative cooperation agreement signed on Tuesday 13 November in Brussels between the European Commissioner for Justice and Consumers, Vĕra Jourová, and Canadian authorities. This agreement stems from the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada, and will link the EU's Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) and the Canadian system. It was signed on the occasion of the International Product Safety Week (IPSW 2018). At the opening of the event, Ms. Jourová announced the launch in 2019 of a product safety award for companies, large and small. Those wishing to compete will be able to apply from January. (AN)
