Commission refers Sofia to ECJ for failure to implement Railway Safety Directive

08/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has decided on Thursday 8 November to refer Bulgaria to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for an infringement action for incomplete transposition and implementation of Directive 2004/49/EC on railway safety. This Directive stipulates in particular that each Member State must set up an investigative body which is independent, both in its status and in its functioning, from any actor in the railway sector whose interests could conflict...
