Luxembourg before Court of Justice for failing to implement fourth 'anti-money laundering' directive

On Thursday 8 November, the European Commission referred Luxembourg to the Court of Justice of the EU, for failing to transpose the fourth 'anti-money laundering' directive.

The member states had until 26 June 2017 to transpose this directive into their national legislations and Luxembourg has still not fully implemented these new rules, which for instance tighten up the risk assessment obligation on banks and improve transparency concerning beneficial owners.
