European Parliament calls for better welfare in industrial poultry farming

In Strasbourg on Thursday 25 October, the European Parliament adopted (409 votes to 19 and two abstentions) a joint resolution (signed by all groups) calling for the welfare of broiler chickens to be reinforced (see EUROPE 12110).

The European Parliament expresses concern at the increase in multi-resistant zoonotic agents on poultry farms (campylobacter spp., Salmonella spp. and E. coli). It calls for action to tackle the problem of fires on poultry farms and notes that the European poultry...
