In light of COP 24, European Parliament calls on EU to aim for a 55% reduction in its emissions by 2030

The latest IPCC report on the impact of an average global warming of 1.5 degrees Celsius must be taken into account, as a warming of 2 degrees Celsius would have profound and probably irreversible consequences, MEPs said on Thursday 25 October in Strasbourg.

The resolution they adopted by a majority (239 votes in favour, 145 against, 23 abstentions) for COP 24 in Katowice (2-14 December) calls on all parties to the Paris Agreement - including the EU - to update their nationally determined...
