10/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) welcomed, in a press release on Tuesday 9 October, the vote of the members of the European Parliament's transport committee of the same day on the rights and obligations of rail passengers (see EUROPE 12113). More specifically, the organisation aims here to require all new trains to be equipped with eight bicycle spaces (see EUROPE 12094) two years after the entry into force of the text. "We are aware that there are still many obstacles ahead, but this is undoubtedly an important step towards increasing multimodality levels in Europe," said Ed Lancaster, political attaché for the ECF.
