10/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 10 October, the European Commission announced (on the fringes of the European Week of Regions and Cities) its selection of 22 cities for their ‘Urban Innovative Actions'. The prize-winners will share a prize of €92 million financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Amsterdam, Barcelona, Manchester, Riba-roja de Turia, Seville and Paris were rewarded for their adjustments to climate change. The metropolis of Aix-Marseille, Breda, Helsinki, Ostrava and Portici were recognised for their air quality, while Brussels, Budapest, Ghent, Mataro and Lyons were recognised for their housing policies. In addition, the towns of Aveiro, Cluj-Napoca, Cuenca, Eindhoven, Vantaa and Ventspils were awarded for their employment and skills development policies. (PH)
