27/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – The regulation defining the legal framework applicable to the European Solidarity Corps between 2018 and 2020 is on the verge of being adopted. After the European Parliament on 11 September, it is now the turn of the Competitiveness Council to endorse on Thursday 27 September the inter-institutional agreement previously reached on this tool. The two institutions now need to formally sign the agreement so that the new regulation can enter into force (following publication in the EU Official Journal). It should be recalled that this mechanism aims is to allow young people between 18 and 30 to participate in a whole range of solidarity activities through volunteering or participating in the professional projects underpinned by a work contract. To this end it has earmarked € 375.6 million (current prices). Please see the following link for the regulation text: https://bit.ly/2Ok5kPS. (SPj)
