27/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – The EU has made available €100,000 in humanitarian aid in favour of Rwanda (€40,000) and Uganda (€60,000), to help these two countries reinforce their prevention/preparedness capacities against the risk of Ebola, which the WTO fears is likely to reach Uganda imminently from neighbouring DRC. This decision, which was announced by the European Commission on Thursday 27 September, will enable the Red Cross to pay for preparedness and prevention operations. The Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides, discussed the humanitarian response to Ebola in DRC, which faces threats from a combination of factors, chiefly insecurity, according to the WTO, which has had to suspend its activities in Beni, with the Director General of the WTO, Tedros Ghebreyesus, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on 24 September.
