14/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 14 September, the European Commission adopted a proposal opening and providing for the management of autonomous EU tariff quotas for certain fisheries products for the 2019-2020 period. At the present time, EU fishery and aquaculture production satisfies only 46% of its needs. This regulation opens the possibility of adapting preferential access to the existing EU market for products covered by tariff quotas should the transitional measures contained in the withdrawal agreement currently being negotiated between the EU and the United Kingdom not come into force.
