It was an unambiguous vote. On Wednesday 12 September in Strasbourg, MEPs gave a comfortable majority to the report of Judith Sargentini (Greens/EFA, Netherlands) on the threats to the rule of law in Hungary. The MEPs thus decided to trigger the so-called Article 7 procedure against Hungary and the government of Viktor Orbán. The EU Council will now have to study the procedure.
