04/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday afternoon 6 September, the European Parliament's special PEST committee will assess the environmental impact of pesticides and ensure that civil society has the biggest say in the discussion. The PEST committee is in charge of evaluating the pesticide authorisation procedure in the EU when formulating recommendations for improvements and will be giving a hearing to NGOs and academics. On 5 September, the Greens/EFA will be organising an additional hearing on the effects of pesticides on health and the environment, as well as the ramifications of the Californian trial that found against Monsanto. The lawyers of the gardener, Dewayne Johnson, will also be attending the hearing (see EUROPE 12085). (AN)
