United Kingdom hoping to participate in Horizon Europe and Euratom research and training programme after Brexit

24/08/2018 (Agence Europe)In a paper published on Thursday 23 August at the same time as a number of fact sheets on the consequences of a no-deal Brexit (see EUROPE 12080), the British government outlined its position on the Horizon 2020 programme and future cooperation in the research and higher education field between the United Kingdom and the EU after “Brexit”.  On the basis of the political agreement with the EU-27 in December 2017 (see EUROPE 11922), it indicates that British withdrawal will not have any impact on the effective running of current Horizon 2020 projects.  Above all, London would like to be involved in the future Horizon Europe framework programme and the Euratom training and research programme, in exchange for a contribution from the United Kingdom. The paper also explains that the government is examining an immigration system that is favourable towards researchers and students.  To consult the paper, please see https://bit.ly/2PzNEO0 . (PH)
