24/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – McDonald's is to take part in the European Alliance for Apprenticeships, the Commission announced on Wednesday 22 August. The American fast-food chain has set itself the target of creating 43,000 apprenticeships across Europe by 2025. It will start in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland and then extend its offer to other countries. This brings the number of commitments to 248. In total, 36 countries have made national commitments in the framework of the Alliance, including 27 member states of the EU (all except the United Kingdom), five EU candidate countries and four countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Since 2013, businesses, employers and intermediaries have pledged to offer more than 900,000 apprenticeship and other training or first-job opportunities to young people, the institution announces.
