01/08/2018 (Agence Europe) – On 1 August, the European Commission announced in a press release that it has released extra emergency aid for Greece of €37.5 million from the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (EFAMI) to improve the hosting conditions for migrations. The Greek authorities will receive €31.1 million to shore up provisional services provided for migrants, notably healthcare, interpreting services and improving infrastructure at the asylum and identification centre at Fylakio in the Evros region. The extra funding will help create further hosting areas in continental Greece. A further amount of €6.4 million has been granted to the International Organisation for Migration (IMO) to improve hosting conditions and support the management of selected sites on the continent.
