27/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 26 July, the EU delegation to Israel said it was "appalled" by the murder of a 31-year old Israeli in the settlement of Adam near Jerusalem. The young man was killed in a knife attack, and two other people were wounded. "Terrorism and violence are a scourge on us all", the delegation tweeted, describing the attack as "barbaric". The assailant, who was shot dead, was reportedly a 17-year old Palestinian. Israel's defence minister, Avigdor Lieberman, responded on 27 July by announcing the construction of 400 new housing units in the Adam settlement, saying that the best response to terrorism was strengthening settlements. The same day clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the village of Kobar from where the assailant originated. (CG)
