18/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – During the informal ministerial meeting in Vienna (see EUROPE 12064) on Tuesday 17 July on the future Horizon Europe Framework Programme, the European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities (EASSH), EuroScience and the Initiative for Science in Europe (ISE) supported the call for a substantial increase in the budget envisaged for the future framework programme, to bring it up to €160 billion. This announcement was made by the EASSH in a press release on Tuesday 17 July. It should be recalled that the Commission envisaged a budget of €94.1 billion in current prices (see EUROPE 12036). The petition in favour of this demand has so far received more than a thousand signatures. The European University Association (EUA), which represents more than 850 university institutions, is also calling for a budget on this scale.
