11/07/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 11 July, the members of the 'economic and financial affairs' committee of the European Parliament gave their green light to the inter-institutional agreement between the former Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Parliament of 30 May on increasing the resources provided to the national competition authorities (NCA) (see EUROPE 12030). The new directive aims to better fight anti-competitive practices within the EU, for instance by means of reinforced cooperation between the NCAs and the European Commission. The ambassadors of the member states to the EU ('Coreper') approved the agreement on 20 June (see EUROPE 12045). The ministers and the MEPs in plenary must now give their final agreement to the text.
