European Commission and four online platforms sign up to pledge on withdrawing dangerous products

On Monday 25 June, four major online marketplaces, Alibaba (for AliExpress), Amazon, eBay and Rakuten - France, made a commitment to the faster removal of dangerous products sold on their online marketplaces.

This pledge follows the negotiations begun in March 2017 (see EUROPE 11747). It also rectifies the loophole left by the EU's e-commerce directive, which introduces reporting procedures for withdrawing suspect online content but which does not regulate them in any detailed way.
