04/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 4 June, the Council of Ministers of the EU adopted a decision without debate giving the European Commission a mandate to negotiate a new protocol to the fisheries agreement between the EU and Cape Verde (see EUROPE 12022 and 11385). The existing EU-Cape Verde agreement was concluded on 30 December 2006. The current four-year protocol came into effect on 23 December 2014 and will expire on 22 December 2018. The agreement with Cape Verde provides fishing opportunities for tuna and highly migratory species for the vessels of three member states (Spain, France and Portugal). (LC)
