04/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – During her meeting with Montenegro's President Milo Djukanović on Monday 4 June, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini hailed the country's "strong commitment to regional stability, demonstrated consistently in its relations with neighbours". According to the European External Action Service, Mogherini and Djukanović agreed that the "momentum created this year – also through the Western Balkans strategy – needs to continue, in the interest of Montenegro, the region and the European Union". They discussed implementation of the reform agenda, in particular the fight against corruption and the protection of fundamental rights, as well as Montenegro's role for security "with a strong regional role".
