31/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 31 May, MEPs approved by a large majority (434 votes for, 109 against, with 74 abstentions) the decision to allocate the Italian prosecutor, Antonio Mura, with a seat on the committee in charge of selecting the Head of the European Prosecutors Office and European prosecutors. During a vote at the civil liberties committee on his appointment (see EUROPE 12027), it was his experience, particularly as a “sherpa” on behalf of the Italian government during the negotiations with the European Prosecutors Office, that was emphasised. Mr Mura will therefore take his seat with 12 other figures on the committee who have all been selected from amongst former members of the European Court of Justice, European Court of Auditors, former national members of Eurojust, the national supreme courts, prosecutors and legal experts.
