European Parliament wants to accelerate talks on EU mechanism for screening foreign investment

On the sidelines of the European Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg on Monday 28 May, the Parliament's international trade committee adopted by a large majority (30 votes in favour, 6 against) the report by Franck Proust (EPP, France) on the proposed framework for screening third country foreign direct investment in the EU.  The proposed framework was presented by the European Commission in September 2017 (see EUROPE 11862, 11972)
