09/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – Unions in the industrial sector, IndustriAll Europe, and the European Association representing European security and defence industries, ASD, launched an appeal to the European institutions on Monday 7 May for “urgent action” to support the European aerospace sector, which is suffering from increasingly strong international competition. On this occasion, the two organisations signed a joint declaration in which they call on the European institutions to “protect” the European budget dedicated to research in the civil aeronautical domain, in view of the next Horizon Europe framework programme. The two organisations consider that any decline in the aeronautical research programmes will rapidly translate into a loss of skills and provoke a technological and scientific divide that will mean it will be “impossible to catch up” with international competitors afterwards.
