09/05/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 9 May, European Commissioner for Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn condemned "in the strongest terms" the attack on investigative journalist Olivera Lakić from Montenegrin daily newspaper Vijesti. The shooting took place in Podgorica the previous day. "We request full and quick investigation by the authorities to identify the assailants and wish Ms Lakic speedy and full recovery", Hahn tweeted, adding that "justice needs to be done". "All politicians and authorities of the country have the responsibility to protect the life and integrity of journalists and guarantee press freedom and freedom of expression", Hahn said. The EU ambassador to Montenegro, Aivo Orav, said the attack on the journalist was "very worrying" and that journalists "should be protected". This is the second attack on Lakić since 2012. (CG)
